NFL Recent Player News
|10/23/2017||Malik Hooker, Ind, S|
|Hooker will miss the rest of the season after injuring his right knee in Sunday's game.
Analysis: Coach Chuck Pagano told reporters Monday that an MRI revealed the rookie had torn the ACL and MCL during a 27-0 loss to Jacksonville. Hooker, the No. 15 overall pick in April, played well after becoming a starter in Week 2. His three interceptions were tied for third in the NFL and he was seventh on the Colts (2-5) with 22 tackles.
|10/23/2017||Delanie Walker, Ten, TE|
|Coach Mike Mularkey said Monday that exams showed Walker more of a bone bruise than a sprained ankle for Walker, who suffered in the injury in Sunday's win over the Browns.
Analysis: Whether or not Walker is available Nov. 5 when the Titans (4-3) host Baltimore (3-4) will depend on how the veteran handles the pain. Walker currently is in a walking boot.
|10/23/2017||Eli Manning, NYG, QB|
|Ben McAdoo is sticking with Eli Manning as the New York Giants' quarterback in what has become a frustrating, lost season.
Analysis: McAdoo made it clear Monday that the Giants' 1-6 record is not grounds for handing the quarterback job to third-round draft pick Davis Webb so the team can evaluate him in regular-season action. There is no question the offense has struggled as it heads into a bye week. It has scored 112 points, which is the fifth fewest in the league.
|10/23/2017||Jay Ajayi, Mia, RB|
|Ajayi was limited in practice on Monday due to ongoing knee and elbow issues.
Analysis: Ajayi has been a bit of a disappointment so far, but we don't believe he's in jeopardy of sitting Week 8.
|10/23/2017||Graham Gano, Car, K|
|Gano is considered questionable for Week 8.
Analysis: NFL.com is reporting that Gano has some type of injury, so keep an eye on this situation.
|10/23/2017||Jay Cutler, Mia, QB|
|Miami Dolphins coach Adam Gase says quarterback Jay Cutler has multiple cracked ribs, making it unlikely he'll play Thursday at Baltimore.
Analysis: Matt Moore is expected to start in Cutler's place after coming off the bench Sunday to lead a 31-28 comeback victory against the New York Jets.
|10/23/2017||Joe Thomas, Cle, T|
|Numb from losing, the Cleveland Browns suffered perhaps their biggest loss yet - Joe Thomas won't play again this season.
Analysis: The perennial Pro Bowl left tackle - and iron man - tore his left triceps Sunday against Tennessee, and an MRI taken on Monday confirmed the severity of an injury that has dealt another devastating blow to an already floundering franchise.
|10/23/2017||Kareem Hunt, KC, RB|
|Hunt is on pace to finish with 284 carries, which would have ranked fifth in the league last season. He is also on pace to catch 57 passes, giving him well over 300 touches. That would surpass any kind of workload he had during his four years at Toledo.
Analysis: The Chiefs hope to have Charcandrick West for their game Monday night against Denver, but that probably doesn't mean that Hunt's workload is going to ease much. That's music to fantasy owners' ears.
|10/23/2017||Ezekiel Elliott, Dal, RB|
|Elliott will play at least one more game before another ruling from a federal judge on his six-game suspension over domestic violence allegations.
Analysis: U.S. District Judge Katherine Polk Failla in an order posted Monday turned down the NFL's request for an expedited hearing on a preliminary injunction. She set one for Oct. 30, a day after the Cowboys visit Washington.
|10/23/2017||Martavis Bryant, Pit, WR|
|Bryant appeared to be asking for a trade again when he posted "give me what I want" on social media Sunday night and then did not show up to team meetings on Monday due to an illness. Bryant's agent, Thomas Santanello, told ESPN that Bryant went to see a doctor Monday morning.
Analysis: Bryant on a since-deleted Instagram post late Sunday night also called out rookie receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, who caught a 31-yard touchdown in the the Steelers' 29-14 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday afternoon. "He wants out," a source close to Bryant told ESPN. "Point blank." Last week, the NFL Network reported that Bryant wanted out due to a lack of playing time. He was targeted three times and had one catch for three yards Sunday against the Bengals.
|10/23/2017||Duane Brown, Hou, T|
|Brown has returned to the Texans after a holdout.
Analysis: Brown, whose contract expires after the 2018 season, has been losing almost $553,000 a week in game checks for not reporting because of a contract dispute. The Texans can get a two-week roster exemption if they need that long for him to be ready to play.
|10/23/2017||Malcom Brown, NE, DT|
|Brown exited Sunday's game against Atlanta in the third quarter with an ankle injury.
Analysis: No word on the severity, though that's par for the course with the Patriots. Brown isn't a real difference maker on a statistical level but is a key starter and run-stopper on the interior of New England's defensive line.
|10/23/2017||Matt Bryant, Atl, K|
|Matt Bryant missed both of his field-goal attempts, a 37- and 36-yarder, in the Atlanta Falcons' 23-7 loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday. Bryant tacked on one PAT.
Analysis: Bryant has now missed three of four field goal attempts over the last two games after going 9 for 9 over the first four. The 42-year-old leg tends to be a bit shakier in outdoor games, and he's got another coming up with a visit to the Jets next weekend.
|10/23/2017||Stephen Gostkowski, NE, K|
|Stephen Gostkowski converted three of three field-goal attempts Sunday as the New England Patriots defeated the Atlanta Falcons 23-7. He made kicks of 29, 21 and 38 yards. Gostkowski tacked on two PATs.
Analysis: Gostkowski booted through at least three field goals for the fourth time in seven games this season and is now 16 for 17 on 3-point tries for the year. Fantasy owners should keep rolling with a kicker who's annually among the scoring leaders in all formats.
|10/22/2017||Jay Cutler, Mia, QB|
|Cutler left Sunday's game against the Jets due to cracked ribs, according to multiple reports.
Analysis: Cutler, who tossed two touchdown passes in the first half, was hit hard by Jets linebacker Jordan Jenkins and left the game in the third quarter clutching his chest. NFL Media insider Ian Rapoport tweeted that Cutler is feared to have cracked ribs and that he will likely miss Thursday's game against Baltimore pending test results. Matt Moore replaced Cutler and led the Dolphins to a 31-28 comeback win.
|10/22/2017||DeShone Kizer, Cle, QB|
|Kizer has been benched again after throwing interceptions on consecutive passes.
Analysis: Kizer was picked off late in the first half and on Cleveland's first possession of the third quarter - both picks by Titans safety Kevin Byard. He obviously isn't a fantasy option right now.
|10/22/2017||Malik Hooker, Ind, S|
|The Indianapolis Colts have lost safety Malik Hooker, their first-round draft pick, late in the first half with what appears to be an injured right knee.
Analysis: Hooker was injured on a 50-yard pass play from Blake Bortles to Allen Hurns - yet another tough moment in a rugged first half in which the Colts trailed Jacksonville 17-0. There was no immediate update on the injury.
|10/22/2017||Andre Ellington, Ari, RB|
|Ellington is inactive for the Cardinals' game against the Rams.
Analysis: Useless as a running back, Ellington had recorded nine reception in two of his past three games, but won't play in this one.
|10/22/2017||Mike Wallace, Bal, WR|
|Wallace is being evaluated for a concussion in Sunday's game against the Vikings, his former team.
Analysis: He won't return and is likely to be entering concussion protocol.
|10/22/2017||Leonard Fournette, Jax, RB|
|Fournette has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Colts.
Analysis: It seemed like he might give it a go despite missing three straight days of practice, but Fournette will sit after getting 49 carries the past two weeks.
