Los Angeles Kings at Edmonton Oilers

  1. This is the first of three games between these teams over the next 16 days. The Oilers won the last matchup (3-1 in Edmonton), which snapped a six-game winning streak by the Kings in the series.
  2. This game ends an eight-game homestand for Edmonton, who extended its winning streak to three games with a 2-0 win against Vancouver Saturday. A win today would match the Oilers' longest home winning streak of 2016-17 (the other was in January).
  3. Connor McDavid now has 25 goals in 2016-17 after scoring against the Canucks Saturday. He is the first Edmonton player with at least 25 goals and 55 assists in a season for the Oilers since Doug Weight in 2000-01.
  4. Los Angeles lost the first game of this three-game Canadian road trip, 5-2, at Calgary yesterday. The Kings have now lost three straight road games, which is tied for their second-longest road skid of the season (four in November).
  5. The Kings have yielded just four power-play goals in their last 24 games. During that span (since January 23), that is fewest in the NHL, and Los Angeles leads the NHL in penalty-kill percentage (93.5 percent).
  6. Anze Kopitar tallied his 10th goal of the season in what was his 65th game last night against the Flames. Kopitar has tallied at least 10 goals in each of his 11 NHL seasons, and this was the latest into the year he has ever reached double digits.
